• 5 Favorite Foods For Your Skin

    Posted by DRMTLGY Blog

While there are a lot of foods that can be beneficial for your skin, we've picked 5 of everyone's favorites. Here they are!

    1. Dark Chocolate

We have to start the list with everyone's favorite treat! Yes, dark chocolate (not milk, unfortunately) contains cocoa flavanols, which are rich in antioxidants. Dark chocolate also provides better blood circulation, which results in that beautiful glow!

    2. Black Coffee

Not only is coffee great for that morning boost, it's also extremely beneficial for your skin! You can use the grinds as a scrub for exfoliating which unclogs pores, buffs away dead skin cells, and encourages new cell growth. Coffee is packed with antioxidants, which targets damaging free radicals

    3. Red Wine

In a study published in the journal Dermatology and Therapy, researchers found a link between Resveratrol, the antioxidant in the grape used to make red wine, and the slowing of acne bacteria growth. When paired with benzoyl peroxide, the combo suspended bacterial growth for a sustained period of time. Cheers to the (recommended) one glass of wine per night!

    4. Almond Milk

While almond milk doesn't have any significant skin benefits, its counterpart is a skin's worst nightmare. Dairy is highly inflammatory, which means it will aggravate acne, rashes, and wrinkles. Use almond milk in your cereal and coffee instead!

    5. Grass-fed Beef

Grass-fed beef is a very potent source of omega-3 to omega-6 fatty acids, which are great for reducing inflammation. Grass-fed beef is also a great source for protein, which is the building block for muscle, collagen, and elastin tissue. This means that your skin will be more firm. resulting in less wrinkles.

  • What is a free radical?

    Posted by DRMTLGY Blog

We hear about it all the time, 'free radicals are terrible and we have to do everything to stop them!' They're portrayed as the villains in a super hero movie, but unlike the movies, free radicals are real and are detrimental to the human body.

    What is a free radical?

The definition of a free radical is:

an uncharged molecule (typically highly reactive and short-lived) having an unpaired valence electron.

The 5th grade chemistry answer is that they're atoms or molecules with an unpaired electron. These uncharged molecules can be generated by pollution, UV rays, and lifestyle choices (alcohol, cigarette smoke.)

How do they affect my skin?

Since free radicals have unpaired electrons, they're constantly seeking out that missing electron to gain stability. Free radicals "steal" electrons from the collagen and elastin in your skin, which are the proteins that keep your skin firm and wrinkle-free.

In essence, free radicals are stealing their missing electrons from the things that keep your skin young and beautiful!

How do we prevent that from happening?!

Another word that's always thrown around is Antioxidants! Antioxidants are molecules that lend their electron to the damaging free radicals, protecting the atoms and molecules that are so precious to us, our collagen and elastin.

Antioxidants are the superheroes to our free radical villains. They protect our skin from sagging, fine lines, and wrinkles.

    Not all antioxidants are equal.

Advanced C E Ferulic combines the antioxidant superpowers of Vitamins C, E, and Ferulic Acid. When combined together, this clinically proven formula gives unequaled anti-aging benefits to rejuvenate the skin, fight free radicals, and provide maximum protection against environmental and UV induced skin damage.
